Harvinder Singh Rai
President
Harvinder joined West Midlands Police in 1993 where he currently serves as a Sergeant. Harvinder has accumulated a wealth of experience in operational policing having served across several departments. He is an ardent proponent of the Peelian principles of policing and their relevance to Sikh values. Harvinder throughout his career has worked to build relations between the police and the community. Harvinder has served as the Chair of the West Midlands Police Sikh Association since 2015 and in 2019, he co-founded the NSPA UK and today serves as its President. His experience to date has helped Harvinder to work within the field of police recruitment together with colleagues from the Home Office uplift team, welfare support for colleagues, legal clarification for the Kataar (a Sikh article) within the new Offensive Weapons Act and his international work with Indian authorities on the criminalisation of forced marriages.

Jagwant Singh
Vice President
Jagwant is a Detective Sergeant and has been a police officer since 2010. He has experience of working in several departments across the police service including uniformed emergency response and CID where he has often been involved in serious and complex investigations. In addition to his core role, Jagwant has also contributed to the development of staff networks within the police service, advising law enforcement agencies on diversity and inclusion in the workplace and work within the community with organisations such as the British Organisation of Sikh Students (BOSS). Jagwant also serves as a workplace Police Federation representative in Leicestershire Police. In 2019, he co-founded the National Sikh Police Association UK, a network of Sikh officers and staff from across the country, and serves as its Vice President.
Kameldeep Singh Samra
Director of Operations
Kameldeep joined the West Midlands Police in 2004 and is one of 4 officers who founded the West Midlands Police Sikh Association which was formally launched in May 2013. Kameldeep has spent most of his career policing the challenging inner City Birmingham area both as a response and neighbourhood officer. During his career he was fortunate enough to have been seconded to the Princes Trust ‘Team Programme’. His passion lies within community policing and believes in the importance of bringing change by being within institutions. He is aware that this is a hardy task and recognises the difficulties in this process but endeavours to put himself forward to creating a start to benefit future generations. He also advocates Sikhs in Policing using their skills and experience to address social issues plaguing the Sikh community like alcohol/ addiction abuse and sexual violence towards women.
Sundeep Kaur Cheema
National Communications Lead
Sundeep joined West Midlands Police and has a career spanning over 18 years where she serves as a Sergeant. Sundeep joined as a graduate, opting for a change in career direction. Her career has involved many aspects of policing roles, including Response, Neighbourhood, Investigative, Public Order and is currently within the Criminal Justice Service department. During Sundeep’s time within policing she has had the opportunity to travel and operationally support other police services across the United Kingdom. Sundeep has been recognised and awarded for her energy, drive and passion to educate and promote diversity, inclusion and equality within policing, fostering a culture of learning, understanding and awareness, particularly with the values of Sikhi. She is committed to using her platform to positively help, support and engage with communities. Sundeep is known for being an advocate of learning and development. She very much adopts the mind-set that to make a difference within policing and externally within our communities, you need to be part of those work streams to influence change – ‘Help Us – Help You’
Sundeep is an active volunteer with her local community-based charities and appreciates the time where she can carry out selfless service in alignment with Sikh values.
Ravjeet Singh
General Secretary
Ravjeet works for the Metropolitan Police as a Product & Delivery Manager for a multi-million-pound information sharing platform. His role involves leading a project and design team. His previous experience includes finance and IT support to critical functions within the force. Ravjeet is experienced in policy development, advice and guidance in protective security and preparedness for potential high-risk targets. Ravjeet also serves as the Co-Chair of the Metropolitan Police Sikh Association (MPSA) and is one of the founding members of the National Sikh Police Association UK (NSPAUK). He has led the MPSA holding multiple events with attendance from senior police officers including the Commissioner, the Mayor of London and key Government dignitaries. Ravjeet has also served as Director for United Sikhs, a UN affiliated international relief organisation, regional director for the British Organisation of Sikh Students (BOSS) and was awarded by the All-Parliamentary Party Group (APPG) for British Punjabis and the Tony Blair Foundation for his voluntary work in the community.
Parvinder Kaur Dhaliwal

Parvinder Kaur Dhaliwal (Pav) is the Leadership Development Manager for both Essex Police and Kent Police and prior to this was the Talent & People Development Manager. In 2018 Pav became the first female chair of the Race Equality Network in Kent Police. As a graduate with 18 years of service in the private sector, Pav joined the police service in 2013 and has not only completed the high potential programme for staff but has been recognised as a role model by the Chief in Kent for driving the diversity and inclusion agenda forward through discretionary effort and awarded a merit in 2019. Pav’s passion and conscientiousness has made her a role model for other ethnic minority females in Kent Police and in the South-eastern region who she has supported in their progression. This was recognised by an award in 2020 from the College of Policing, National Police Chief’s Council and National Black Police Association. Pav is pleased to be able to support colleagues in the NSPAUK to be the best they can be.
Jag Sohal
Treasurer
Jag has recently been appointed Treasurer for the National Sikh Police Association. Jag is employed by West Yorkshire Police and works as a Strategic Accountant. He is a fully qualified accountant, being a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Jag has worked for WYP Since 2010, starting his career as a Trainee Accounting Technician, working his way up to his current role. He is also the interim chair of the newly formed West Yorkshire Sikh Police Association. Outside of work, Jag enjoys playing and watching football, being an avid Liverpool FC supporter.

Nina Bal
Joint Secretary
Nina works for the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) as a crime intelligence analyst at Hendon. She joined the MPS in 2001 but left to join West Midlands Police (WMP) as a Domestic Abuse Safeguarding Officer in 2017 however re-joined the MPS in April 2021. Nina’s experience includes serving as an executive committee member for the Metropolitan Police Sikh Association (MPSA) but gave up this role during her time with the MPS. Nina has been a member of the National Sikh Police Association (NSPAUK) since its launch in February 2019 and she now serves on the executive committee as a joint secretary. During her time with the MPSA and NSPAUK, she has participated in various events, which have included Nagar Kirtans, the Vaisakhi Mela, Chabeel Day and an event marking the Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev jee in 2019 at the College of Policing. As a member of the NSPAUK, Nina has also taken part in the ‘Break the Silence’ videos to help raise awareness around domestic abuse which were filmed in both languages, English and Punjabi.
In her free time, Nina enjoys spending time with her German Shepherd puppy, Boycie, who is an ex-WMP pup. She also likes to go to the gym, comedy shows and the cinema.
Ashna Tumber
Joint Secretary
Ashna has served with Thames Valley Police in a variety of positions for over 30 years and her current role involves working in Contact Management.
Ashna has recently taken up the role of joint secretary in the executive team and performs a vital role in the association. Ashna wants to raise the awareness of the Sikh faith and promote equality within the wider police service. On a local level Ashna is the executive representative for the SAME (Support Association for Minority Ethnic Staff) within Contact Management, helping to build an inclusive environment in the workplace.
She is a mother of two children and is proud of her daughter who has joined the Metropolitan Police as a Detective Constable and her son who just started university.
Navdeep Verma
National Welfare Lead
Navdeep joined the Metropolitan police as a police officer since 2003 and currently serves in the rank of Sergeant. He has a wealth of experience, having worked on emergency response, youth engagement, recruitment and neighbourhood policing. Navdeep has a passion for making a difference in peoples lives and his outreach work in the community. Navdeep has worked closely with school and community leaders on areas such as stop and search awareness and knife crime. Over the years Navdeep has volunteered to support the planning and organising of Nagar Kirtans in the London area. He currently serves on the executive team of the Metropolitan Police Sikh Association and the NSPAUK as a welfare lead.
Navdeep is a former Police Federation representative and continues to support police members in areas such as conduct and equality. In his spare time, Navdeep enjoys photography and is budding artist!
